This whole complex is run by Westin, and most of it is closed off to the public now. Through the 80s and early 90s, it was a really senic shopping mall complex with a lot of restaraunts, unique (Read: unprofitable mom&pop) stores, and some great views of the bay. It was the best place to watch the Gasparilla invasion from, off of one of its many balconies and terraces. It had its own elevated tram line connecting it to Franklin Street, all of which slowly bled to death financially. It appears to be mostly vacant today, can't even get into the old complex through the lobby of the Westin Hotel like you used to be able to.
Prior to the Harbor Island mall days, I believe this was originally a freight warehouse.

Freedom High School... What HASN'T happened at Freedom? We've been on the national news on several occasions. We've been closed down for "swine flu," had our bathrooms set on fire, broke the record for most fights in the same month, and even had our very own student-teacher scandal. It's a decent school, with great people. If your teachers suck, at least you know that something ridiculous and interesting will be happening within the next month or so.
